How to Create Sustainable and Easy-to-Install Roadshow & Touring Kits for Brands

At Better Green Productions, we understand the importance of sustainability in the events industry. As a UK-based sustainable production company, we are committed to providing eco-friendly solutions without compromising on quality or functionality. And with over 25 years of experience, there are a few things that we have learned along the way! Here’s how we make roadshow and touring kits for brands that are not only sustainable but also easy to install.

1. Sustainable Design

Eco-Friendly Materials

Our roadshow and touring kits are designed using eco-friendly materials such as recycled aluminum, FSC-certified timber, and biodegradable fabrics. By prioritizing sustainable resources, we reduce the environmental impact of our products from the outset.

Modular Design

We adopt a modular design approach, which allows for flexibility and reusability. This means components can be easily swapped, reconfigured, or upgraded, extending the life cycle of the kits and reducing waste.

2. Efficient Production Processes

Our production processes are optimised for energy efficiency. We use renewable energy sources wherever possible and employ manufacturing techniques that minimise waste. For example, precision cutting and 3D printing help reduce material wastage. We prioritise sourcing materials from local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation. This also supports the local economy and ensures compliance with UK sustainability standards.

3. Easy Installation

Pre-Assembled Components

To make the installation process as straightforward as possible, we provide pre-assembled components that can be quickly and easily put together on-site by our team. Sometimes we have very little time for the team to install a large installation in spaces such as shopping centres. This not only saves time but also reduces the need for extensive on-site labor and tools.

For example, a recent project for Diageo, House of 0.0% faced logistical and design challenges, given its ambitious overnight setup and activation schedule in various shopping centers with different-sized areas allocated at each location.

4. Transportation and Storage

Compact Packaging

Our roadshow and touring kits are designed to be compact and lightweight, making them easier to transport and store. This not only reduces the logistical costs but also minimises the carbon footprint associated with shipping.

For example, now in it's fourth year, The Mirabeau Touring stand we created for this wonderful rose brand is still being used each summer at various UK festivals, with minimal upgrades each year. The 6m x 6m bar was designed to be easily transported and quickly erected whilst maintaining a high standard of finish on each delivery. This was a combination of using a bespoke manufactured steel framework, bolted and supported by the paneled flooring. Walling sections; combining a wood panel finish and arch cave product display shaped into the wall, would slot into place and bolted together. A similar method was used for the ceiling panels with a sealed join which made the stand safe from wet weather conditions. The method of design allows it to be reduced to a 3m x 3m if desired.

The Mirabeau Touring Stand is now in its fourth year of use.

5. End-of-Life Management

Recycling and Upcycling

At the end of their life cycle, our roadshow and touring kits are designed to be easily disassembled for recycling or upcycling. We dispose of each component responsibly, ensuring that minimal waste ends up in landfills, either by local recycling schemes, use in other projects, or donating to local causes. For example, we recently donated and installed a plant wall after a Smirnoff activation.

A plant wall from a Smirnoff activation was donated to a nursery school.

Conclusion

At Better Green Productions, we believe that sustainability and practicality can go hand in hand. Our roadshow and touring kits are a testament to this belief, offering brands eco-friendly, easy-to-install solutions for their events. By focusing on sustainable design, efficient production, easy installation, and responsible end-of-life management, we help brands reduce their environmental impact while achieving their marketing goals.
