Production Director -

Events and Experiential Outdoor Builds

Location: London, UK, with nationwide travel and occasional overseas. Event Sites and Festival Sites.

Initially a 12-month contract with a view to permanent. With a 1 month probation.

Overview:

Due to rapid expansion, we are currently seeking a highly experienced Production Director specialised in physical event builds and activations to join our team. Reporting to and closely collaborating with the owners and senior team members, this role offers a blend of collaboration and autonomy. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the team, while also having the responsibility to lead independently, both physically and for the project P&L’s.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in senior event production and management, demonstrating expertise in managing large-scale builds, budgeting, operations, health and safety protocols, design, and supplier management. This is a senior-level position requiring exceptional leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on operational and planning capabilities. We welcome individuals who bring their own procedures and suppliers to the table, ready to make a powerful impact. We specialise in festival and out outdoor event sites, experience in these or similar environments is required.

Ideally London-based, candidates must be able to attend our office in the Waterloo area daily from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with additional on-site time, away-from-home assignments, long hours during peak seasons, occasional weekend work including bank holidays, and overnight builds. There may also be a requirement to work in Paris for several weeks (to be confirmed).

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the end-to-end production of large-scale experiential activation builds from an operational and management overview.

  2. Develop and manage comprehensive budgets for each project, closely monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.

  3. Coordinate logistical operations, including transportation, staffing, and equipment rentals, utilising strategic planning to optimise resources and streamline processes.

  4. Implement rigorous health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and mitigate risks during event setup and execution, integrating safety considerations into all operational plans.

  5. Direct the design and build process, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to create innovative and visually stunning event experiences while maintaining a strong operational framework.

  6. Supervise and mentor a team of suppliers and staff, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure high performance and professional growth, emphasising the importance of operational excellence in all aspects of their work.

  7. Source and manage external suppliers, cultivating relationships and negotiating contracts to secure the best possible resources for each project while optimising operational efficiencies and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 15 years of experience in event production, with a focus on physical event builds and outdoor activations.

  2. Proven track record of managing large-scale event productions at HoD or PD level including budgeting, operations, and logistics, with an emphasis on meticulous planning and execution.

  3. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to event production, with experience implementing protocols to ensure compliance and incorporating safety considerations into operational plans.

  4. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a strategic approach to operational planning.

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, emphasising operational objectives and fostering a culture of excellence.
